HELLO!

I’M SUSHMA ADHIKARI

Welcome to my e-portfolio! I’m a passionately dedicated primary level educator who genuinely enjoys teaching. . My future educational dream position would be to teach at the middle school or secondary grade level. My passions include teaching Economics, Mathematics, Yoga, and Athletics. I have been given the opportunity to teach Social Science to multiple students of class 7th and 9th of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 Delhi Cantt. With that, I have developed patience and understanding with children as well as successfully demonstrated my passions to students. Presently, I am teaching EVS, Mathematics, and English to  Grade 1 students in K D Ambani Reliance Foundation School, Jamnagar as a Mother teacher. I would like to work with other professionals to improve my skills as an educator which will allow me to further contribute in the field of education.

BIO

My Story

​I was born and raised in New Delhi, and it is responsible for shaping and molding me into the individual that I am today. During my schooling and higher education sport's programs were extremely important to my upbringing. I tried my hand at every sport that was offered, becoming proficient in most. The sports that brought the most success were Athletics, long jump, Kho-Kho, and Yoga. Sports has played a huge role in shaping my personality and boosting my confidence. Due to this, I strive to support physical fitness in the community, especially the schools.
As a natural-born go-getter, my passion has continuously driven me to expand my knowledge, experience, and relationships. MY EXPERIENCE

Roles and Responsibilities

The following is an outline of my current and past work experience. Each role has provided me an opportunity to learn, grow, and continue developing both as a person and a professional. Take a look to learn more.

PRT TEACHER, KDARFS, Jamnagar

April 2021 - Present

I am presently working in KDARFS, Jamnagar as a PRT teacher. Responsible for managing a class of 26 students, and planning activities. Communicate with parents on a regular basis, via annual assessments, quarterly meetings, and monthly phone conversations.

TRAINEE TEACHER, KV No. 1 Delhi Cantt-10

I got the opportunity to teach as a trainee teacher in K V No.1 Delhi Cantt, my responsibilities there include organizing activities, draft lesson plans, and for IXth & VIIth standard.

TUTOR AT SCHOLARS POINT

I have taught Mathametics and English to students of class IV to IX.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

LEARNER CENTRIC CLASSROOM

In my classroom, I want to focus on learner-centric classroom strategies. Many studies have proven this to be the most useful strategy for the improvement of student learning. This strategy makes the student the focal point of the classroom getting them involved in many activities. I am expecting my classroom to be a very fluid place that allows the students to voice their opinions and ideas. I want to promote assignments that are interactive and feel more like experiences overwork.

COLLABORATION

 The use of collaboration has been a big influence in my educational career. This came into use more at university as it has been presented to me as a positive tool for gaining more information. Collaboration is huge in the classroom so students are able to learn how to interact with others, and hold up responsibilities. It also promotes learning since when you master something and are able to teach it, it will be more memorable for the student. The classroom should be a place of positive interactions that allows for a higher level of knowledge.

ENGAGE & LEARN

My classroom is going to provoke the student’s curiosity. I want my students to be engaged in what we are learning, and I want them to follow their passions. Their work will be focused on creativity, allowing many paths to meet successful completion. Too often students are made and groomed to fit in the box, but in my classroom I want to break out of this norm. I also want my room to be physically dynamic to help each student succeed in their own unique ways.

LOVE & HARMONY

 I want to create a place where everyone feels as though they belong. As a teacher I will promote the use of collaboration and helping one another. I will use student centric strategies to promote learning. I will push the students to follow their passions, and attempt to provoke their curiosity with classroom materials. Students will both understand, and be treated fairly.
